Cyborg 009 Contest Entry- Kate

Around Christmas, I ended up getting interested again in an anime that I'd followed for about half it's run on Toonami before somehow losing track of it. That anime is Cyborg 009.

I ended up with about five new characters, including Kate who is about two weeks old right now. She was either going be from San Francisco or New Orleans. They're all rather fun to draw.

Anyway, I did this for *Genolovers fancharacter contest.

Eventually in the 1960’s, after a botched robbery, she was picked up by Black Ghost for experimentation. Most of her skeletal structure and joints were replaced with steel
replicas for her to sustain extended acceleration. During testing the scientists discovered numerous design flaws (the lack of cartilage in her new rib cage constricts her breathing, comparatively weak joints that are prone to breaking, and her inability to stop or start accelerating quickly or efficiently) and opted to place her in cold storage until a later date. Fourty or so years later when she and the survivors of her bunch were defrosted, they escaped from Black Ghost and, being unaware of the 00 cyborgs, are wandering around on their own.

The group of cyborgs she is a member of were created for the sole purpose of finding out what would happen to people in imperfect health if they were turned into cyborgs. How their bodies and minds would take it and so on. A large number of them died (/killed themselves) or suffered mental problems soon after their changes. The remaining stable cyborgs (a number of whom were in comas) were placed in stasis before the development of the 00 team started.

Roughly six foot tall, gangly, and athletic (save the asthma), Kate spent most of her time in the gang picking pockets and yelling insults at rival gang members. While in the gang she ended up feeling the effects of malnutrition and collected an immense dictionary of slang and insults in more langauges than she can name. She also peroxided and dyed her hair more times than she can count, so it now has a perpetually greasy, fake look to it.

If she ever met the 00 cyborgs she'd probably follow 006 around like a puppy. For the food, y'know.
